As a Senior Archaeologist with Past to Present Archaeology, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our team — helping to mentor junior staff, lead on fieldwork, and contribute to both commercial and research-driven projects across the UK and abroad.
This position is ideal for archaeologists with strong field experience who are ready to take on more responsibility and who are excited by the opportunity to be involved in international fieldwork, teaching, and public engagement.
You’ll be instrumental in delivering high-quality archaeological work, supporting the development of others, and helping to lead our training programmes and field schools.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise and support field teams on commercial and research projects
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to skills development
- Participate in and help lead international projects, training courses, and field schools
- Engage with community and public-facing archaeological work
- Assist with logistics, reporting, and project planning

Starting salary: £26,473.54
Location: UK-based with expected participation in overseas projects
Contract: Full-time, with opportunities for career progression into Community Archaeologist, Supervisor, or Officer roles
