Our Trainee Archaeologist programme is designed to support individuals with a passion for the past and a commitment to developing a professional career in field archaeology. Whether you’re changing careers, recently graduated, or simply looking for your first step into the sector, this structured pathway will give you the practical skills, knowledge, and support you need to progress.
You’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside an experienced and supportive team on both commercial and research excavations. Training includes excavation techniques, site recording, post-excavation processing, and digital skills.
Trainees who successfully complete the programme and show real potential will be offered a fixed-term or permanent position as a Project Archaeologist.
Starting salary: £24,500
Location: Various UK sites (own vehicle required)
Duration: Full-time, with the potential for long-term employment
