Joining as a Project Archaeologist for Past to Present Archaeology is an exciting opportunity to further your experience in the field, working with a skilled and motivated team, covering commercial and community work, both home and abroad.

Your role with Past to Present Archaeology will entail a variety of types of archaeological fieldwork, including evaluation and excavation, as well as supporting our post-excavation team in digitisation of plans and sections, finds processing and community events.

 

Starting salary:  £23,800

Job Specification

  • Perform a range of fieldwork tasks in the commercial sector
  • Excavation of sites in both urban and rural settings
  • Competently interpret and record archaeological features
  • Effectively record finds and take samples
  • Supporting and guiding development of trainees on site
  • Competency in use of GPS (training can be given)
  • Contribute to post-excavation work

 

  • A degree in archaeology, or equivalent academic knowledge and practical ability
  • Minimum of 6 months continous commercial archaeological experience
  • A full clean driving licence and use of own vehicle is a requirement of this role
